Art projects and sketch assignments are evaluated using grading rubrics. Rubrics will focus on concepts I hope you will master during the year. These include your understanding of art skills/vocabulary, craftsmanship, problem solving, originality/communication, and self-reflection. Levels of mastery for each concept are explained in detail on the rubric. In addition, I will be evaluating your use of class time to develop your skills and complete your projects and assignments.
Each quarter you will complete several art projects in class, 3 journal assignments, practice exercises and written critiques. Quizzes will be given periodically and are open notes quizzes, so you are rewarded for paying attention and keeping excellent notes!
Final grades are determined using the following percentages:
Art Projects- 50%
Journal Assignments-20%
Practice exercises- 10%
Critiques-10%
Quizzes-10%.
